Dr. Nicole Cates is a board-qualified, fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon with years of training dedicated to foot and ankle pathology. Prior to practicing in San Francisco, Dr. Cates completed her fellowship at University of Maryland. There she specialized in complex foot and ankle conditions including Charcot neuroarthropathy, pediatric clubfoot, limb lengthening and complex deformity correction under the direction of a highly regarded faculty of fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeons.

Dr. Cates did her residency training at Georgetown University Hospital, where she trained with world renowned plastic surgeons and foot and ankle specialists. She received extensive training in diabetic limb salvage, sports medicine, trauma surgery, deformity correction. She is trained to treat any foot and ankle pathology while treating the entire patient with their specific needs.

Dr. Cates maintains an active involvement in research and has been published several times in the Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery, advising on surgical outcomes in Charcot reconstruction and diabetic limb salvage, among other innovative surgical techniques.
